A Balfour Book published by Photo Precision Ltd. First edition 1973. 176 pages and lavishly illustrated with photographs by Arthur Gibson, many of which are in colour.

Fine condition hardback book in red covers with gold gilt titles. A Very Good condition dustjacket with a little loss to the bottom of the spine.  It looks smart in its protective cover and is a pleasing copy.

From the jacket: The Red Arrows are the world’s best known formation aerobatics team. Since 1965, they have been seen by millions around the globe. Their superb flying of their scarlet Hawker Siddeley Gnat jet trainers has won the admiration of fellow pilots of all nationalities  and a loyal following amongst the public at large.

This book tells for the first time the inside story of The Red Arrows – what it is like to fly with them, to train with them and to lead them. Its author, Squadron Leader Ray Hanna AFC, was a founder member of the team and its leader for several years.  He gives a truly authoritative account of the specialised art of jet formation aerobatics.  Lavishly illustrated with the pictures of Arthur Gibson, the only photographer to be made an honorary member of The Red Arrows.

Despite the book being over 50 years old and The Red Arrows having moved on from the Gnat, this is a fascinating look at the early years of the team. A very rare signed book and perfect for anyone who has ever admired The Reds.
